About Us

Africa Pledge is an alternative approach toward investing in Africa.

We identify and invest alongside investors, in chosen Investments, with no commitments expected from investors till they agree to a specific transaction.

The firm is led by professionals who have lived and worked in Africa with a close and long-standing association with successful local business families and senior decision makers.

Our team also brings a cultural understanding and affinity to engage with local entrepreneurs, managers and other stakeholders on the continent.

This is different to other blind pool traditional PE structures that often lead to investor disappointments because of the absence of engagement and alignment of costs-to-benefits.

How

By utilising our own hard-earned experience in having managed, operated and developed high pedigree businesses in Africa.

With a focus on well managed, profitable, family owned companies that require growth capital and can benefit from strategic support.

Leveraging off of our own proprietary networks, developed out of two decades of personal experience in having lived and worked in Sub-Saharan Africa.

This allows us to identify early, those business opportunities that offer superior returns, through enhanced product development, expanded regional footprint and capital optimisation.

Each deal is approached as a partnership between the firm and the investors and fees charged only on invested capital, with operating and management cost fully funded by the Partners.

Africa Pledge thus brings a rare blend of operating experience, access to deal flows and local knowledge into an investment proposition. And provides active and constructive intervention to management to deliver on investor promise.

Why

Market data and past precedence both tend to be flawed or unreliable in the continent.

Proof of concept around business models often is elusive.

Thus the need for deep and long term engagement with business owners.

Evidence shows clearly that those who achieve their return targets in Africa are investors who invested with their time first and then money followed.

Stories around growth at macro level do not necessarily translate into success at an operating level without working alongside quality local partners.
